The hand application of road marking is known as Screed. It is typically adopted when the work area is confined or restricted and therefore unsuited to the use of larger extrusion machines. It is also used when the application requires an accurate and intricate representation of specific shapes such as triangles, letters, arrows, junction hatching and speed bumps.
The application of these types of markings are sometimes classified as an ‘Art Form’, as they are laid in many cases freehand using a screed box or hand mould.
